


H. Stephen Watson, M.D. is an experienced active urologist, having been certified and recertified by the American Board of Urology. Having introduced advanced laparoscopic and reconstructive surgical treatments to our region, Dr. Watson is also a certified diplomate of the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons. As a private practice surgeon, Dr. Watson has advanced techniques for sling surgery for female and male urinary incontinence, orthotopic neobladder reconstructive surgery for bladder cancer, multiple laparoscopic surgical procedures, percutaneous renal access for kidney stone surgery, laparoscopic cryosurgery for kidney cancer, percutaneous cryosurgery for prostate cancer and many others.
Dr. Watson is a Florida Parishes native who was born in Baton Rouge. Growing up on his family's dairy farm near Amite, Louisiana, Dr. Watson is no stranger to hard work. He proudly attended Natalbany Christian School and Oak Forest Academy, before attending Southeastern Louisiana University, in Hammond, Louisiana. Dr. Watson then graduated from the highly competitive Medical Education Reinforcement and Enrichment Program at Tulane University, in New Orleans, before graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Centenary College of Louisiana.
Dr. Watson graduated from Louisiana State University School of Medicine before completing a six-year post-doctoral surgery and urology residency training at institutions including Scott and White Clinic, Texas A&M College of Medicine; Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard Medical School and Olin E. Teague Veterans Memorial Hospital. Dr. Watson began his urology practice as a member of the physician staff of the Ochsner Clinic. He also served on staff at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, Louisiana, before establishing Northlake Urology in St. Tammany Parish.
Dr. Watson holds the highest possible overall patient satisfaction rating and is the recipient of academic honors, including awards from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Texas Medical Association, the Southern Medical Association, Texas A&M College of Medicine, the Texas Urological Association and other medical organizations. He is the author of scientific papers published in the internationally acclaimed Journal of Urology and other peer reviewed medical journals.
Dr. Watson has authored and presented numerous research papers concerning wide-ranging urological topics at meetings around the nation. For his work he accepted membership in the Eta Chapter of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He is a member of the American Urological Association, the Southeastern Section of the American Urological Association and the Louisiana and Texas Urological Societies.
Just this year (2018), Dr. Watson was recognized by one of America's top two healthcare insurance networks as outperforming peers in nationally endorsed measures of patient medical care effectiveness and efficiency. Dr. Watson continues to accept new patients and enthusiastically work to evaluate, treat, inform and teach.
